Note from the President – Three Day Lockdown from 6pm
The Premier of Queensland today announced a three-day lockdown in South East Queensland and areas of regional Queensland will occur to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Members living in these areas must stay at home, and can only leave their residence for the following four key reasons:
- to buy essentials like groceries or medications;
- to work or study, if you can’t do either from home;
- to exercise in your local area; or
- to provide help, care or support.
We have been advised that golf can continue, in accordance with the direction around exercise. Therefore, The Brisbane Golf Club will allow social golf in groups of two during the lockdown under the following conditions:
- Members will need to report to the Golf Shop on arrival and must check in using the Check in QLD App regardless of their name being on the timesheet;
- Masks must be worn indoors and carried by Members at all times;
- A booking must be made. Please note the current timesheets will be cleared and re-open for bookings over the next three days from 8pm tonight. There will be a one tee start with six minute intervals between groups;
- Scorecards will not be distributed;
- Golf carts will be available but only for single player use and therefore it will be on a first in first served basis;
- No guests or visitors will be permitted;
- Flagsticks are not to be touched or removed from the hole. We will again install pool noodles;
- Bunker rakes will be removed and COVID-19 rules in bunkers will apply again;
- Golf tuition will still be available;
- The driving range will be open but social distancing must be respected; and
- The Garden Room will remain open, but the Clubhouse will be closed.
Members are asked to continue to maintain social distancing and hand hygiene measures and should not attend the Club if they have:
- been in close contact with an active COVID-19 case;
- been in a Queensland declared COVID-19 hotspot, place of concern or exposure venue, as defined by the Chief Health Officer; or
- had a fever, cough, sore throat, headache, distorted sense of taste, shortness of breath, chills, vomiting or any cold/flu like symptoms in the last 72 hours.
My other reminder to all golf Club Members is that it is imperative that all Australians become vaccinated as soon as possible. Indeed, this three-day period may give some of you the perfect opportunity to obtain or book your vaccine. Ultimately this will be the best way to prevent further outbreaks of COVID-19 and allow us to enjoy golf at our Club in a normal manner. It is an individual act that helps protect the entire community.
Finally, I wish all our Members a safe week and hope that there is more positive news by Friday. Take care and if you have any questions please contact myself or our CEO, Geoff Kuehner via reply email.
Kind regards
Mark Deuble, President
