Team Announcement: Round 5 Pennants
The Brisbane Golf Club will play Redcliffe Golf Club away in round 5 of Division 1 pennants this Sunday. A home win last weekend against Pacific Golf Club kept our unbeaten record intact but with 2 rounds remaining 3 of the 4 Clubs can still win the flag.
Redcliffe Golf Club are the defending champions and will be a difficult assignment at home. A big win against BGC will certainly strengthen their title hopes. While BGC secured a 13-8 win in Round 2, Redcliffe Golf Club will start as favourites on their home track but an in form BGC will certainly be up for the challenge.
The Opens will be looking to take their strong play from round 5 to the peninsula this Sunday. They secured 8 points out of a possible 11 against Pacific. The Opens were only able to win 5.5 points when they played Redcliffe at home in round 2 and an improved performance is needed. Two changes have been made to last week’s team with Cooper Clarke replaced by Luke Kjeldal and Chris Somerfield by Will Hughes.
Our Open’s team is Billy Dowling, Sam Howse, Will Hughes, Luke Kjeldal, Craig Mahon, Sam Slater, John Smoljko, Ilija Soldan, Ben Stieler, Paul Todd and Conor Whitelock.
Our Juniors are the only undefeated team and sit on the top of the table on 8 points. The battle for the junior pennant is now just down to Keperra Country Club and BGC and their Round 6 match is likely to determine the winner. Our juniors team remains unchanged from Round 4.
Our Junior team is Campbell Kerr, Justin McCormack, Chase Oberle, Harvey Palmer and Eric Yeon.
A week can be a long time in golf and the Masters were able to flip their 1-4 loss away to Pacific in Round 3 to a 4-1 win against them at home in Round 4.
Our Masters team is Ian Burgess, Stephen Deane, Eugene Estella, Phil Lynem and Ash Sturmer.
In the other match this Sunday, Pacific Golf Club will play Keperra Country Golf Club at home. Pacific will be looking for their first win of the season while an away win for Keperra would be extremely valuable.
