QSOOM Wrap Up
The Queensland Senior Order of Merit (QSOOM) competition consists of Senior Golf events approved by
Golf Australia (Queensland) conducted normally from August until July. The competition is open to amateur golfers 55 years and over, up to a maximum handicap of 36 (men) and 45 (women).
The Brisbane Golf Club is fortunate to have a number of its Member involved in the QSOOM and the following wrap up will be published as often as possible to keep other Members updated on their progress.
Oxley. 12/8. – 11 BGC Players.
Scratch Section – (Chasing The Dowling)
The (Brad) Dowling and The (Ian) Frost battle is on again. These two have been chosen in the latest Australian Team so it’s nice to be able to measure yourself against two of the best in the country. Dowling has won the QSOOM Scratch a number of times and is the man to beat. For that reason, I’ve added them in our rundown, without adding them in the mailing list. As Australian Reps they go in green.
A good start by Deaney with a T2 75 (+4) at Oxley (tied with The Dowling and one better than The Frost) – Three shots behind winner and Big 5’er Brett Ritchie of Nudgee. A couple of sad stories of solid front 9’s followed by some indifferent back nines held a few blokes back. A few rookies in the field for us …. Good to see our guys out there.

Nett (The Col Hallam Benefit).
Col Hallam of Redcliffe has won the Nett QSOOM season 5 times. He’s an ex WA State team member, playing off anywhere from 6-10. He’s better than that. Everyone, including Col, knows he’s better than that. If you’re close at the end of the season, you’ll have 98% of the players in your corner hoping you’ll knock him off.
He’ll start the year putting some good runs on the board … then taper off to get set for the run to the final events and bigger point games.
Anyway … We’ll keep an eye on him too …

Scratch – Another good round from Deaney to run 2nd shooting 74 ( +1) to The Dowling (-1) , who has assumed his rightful place at the top of the QSOOM after 2 rounds. Very good rounds too by Pete Lansom (+4) and Craig Mills (+7). Well done guys on what, from all reports, wasn’t a course in pristine condition. Welcome to David Prince playing his Rookie event.

SEPTEMBER EVENTS.
Beerwah 2/9. A good country track … worth the trip once if you haven’t played it. Greens are generally very good and they don’t set the course up ‘silly’. Unfortunately on the day before Rd2 of our champs though .. https://www.golf.org.au/events#/competition/3189928/info
Maroochy River 9/9 https://www.golf.org.au/events#/competition/3463085/info – Popular event – Only 100 players … 29 spots already taken. (100/29)
Palmer Gold Coast 12/9 (The old Robina Woods course). https://www.golf.org.au/events#/competition/3185707/info 144/8
The Brisbane GC 26/9 – our own event in now it’s second year. Proved popular last year … register early. https://www.golf.org.au/events#/competition/3189929/info 100/19
OCTOBER – The BDGA Event is on at Nudgee on the 3rd of the month, you’ll need to register for this on the BDGA website I think.
Keep an eye out for the Toowoomba Triangle (26-28 October) …. It’s very popular and fills fast. I’ll send an email out to all and sundry when it opens. A good way to get 3 events worth of points for the points chasers.
