Women’s Golf Update
Wow, it’s September already with most of our important events on the program completed. Congratulations to all the winners of those events. Remember for those who were not successful this year, there will always be next year.
Now is not the time to think of leaving your clubs in the cupboard to gather dust, as we still have many fun things planned up until Christmas Lunch, which of course, is followed by Nine/Eighteen hole Summer Competitions.
Johnson Staines
Final scheduled for Saturday, 17 September
Macartney Cup
The final mid-week Honour Board Event to start on Tuesday, 20 September and hopefully will be completed without undue delay, as the course will have its annual renovation at the beginning of October. The course will be closed from Tuesday 4 October for three days.
There are no plans to change the program despite the National Day of Mourning falling on Thursday, 22 September.
Pink Day – (Tuesday 11 October & Saturday 5 November)
This is a new event for mid-week players, and is not related to any charity or fund raising. It is simply meant to be a fun day.
Played in teams of four – a day to test your mental ability, as a pink ball has to be used by one of the players on each hole, and this score along with one other will be used. Hopefully both pink balls will survive the journey, otherwise your score could look a little lean.
Details of the rules of play will be issued on the day. The most important thing to remember is that a bonus two points will be awarded if every member of your team wears something pink.

Presentation Day – (Saturday 12 November)
A very important day on the calendar when we get to enjoy some time together as a group, to celebrate who we are as a group, along with all our major competition winners for 2022.
- 2022 is a new beginning for the women Members of Brisbane Golf Club
- Our presentation day will not be an official AGM, but it will still be a time for reflection and a time for cementing our position in the Club, as we continue with the tradition of all those women who have come before us.
- Yes, things have changed – but traditions can and will be continued with ongoing support.
- As a number of the women currently filling the roles on Member Engagement will be retiring, we are currently calling on those of you who would be happy to join the group to continue the good work, and you will be introduced and welcomed at our Presentation Day.
- With the informal “formality” completed, we will move on to the second important issue of the day – awarding trophies and prizes kindly donated by fellow Members or the women’s Welfare Account.
- For any player who reached the finals of an Honour Board Event – you will receive an award, and will be notified by email, sending an RSVP is an important step as we will then know if we should polish up your trophy or not.
- We would love to see each and everyone of you.
- Bookings for this event will be essential to assist with catering. This will be organised on line and opened 2 weeks prior.
Fun Day – (Tuesday 22 November
A challenge for you all as you attempt to follow instructions, that will lead you a merry dance around a modified course.

As always we look forward to seeing on and off the course soon.
