Course Staff Promotions

We are excited to announce the promotion of two of our course staff to the Senior Course Management Team. Justin Wells (left) has been appointed to the position of Assistant Superintendent in Training and Harrison Macoun (right) has been appointed Leading Hand.

Both will start in their roles immediately.

Justin started at The Brisbane Golf Club in October 2021 as a groundsman, moving to an Adult Apprentice in Sports Turf Management in January 2022. Prior to joining the club, he spent nearly 7 years in the RAAF as an Aircraft Technician working on the F/A-18 A&B Hornets and the C27J Spartans. Prior to entering the RAAF, he worked in Pro Shops around Sydney whilst working towards a career playing professional golf, including stints at Ryde Parramatta Golf Club, Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club, and finally 2 years (2011-2013) at Royal Sydney Golf Club.

Harry joined The Brisbane Golf Club in September 2021 as an Apprentice Greenkeeper, after commencing his Parks and Gardens apprenticeship at Churchie Grammar School, moving across to Sports Turf Management when he joined Brisbane. Before joining the turf industry, he spent 4 years playing representative cricket for both Queensland and Australia. His appointment to Leading Hand is an exciting opportunity for him to continue to develop his knowledge and understanding of Golf Course Management as he finishes his apprenticeship in May this year.

Both ably represented the Club as a volunteer at the Australian PGA at Royal Queensland Golf Club in October 2022 and will again volunteer at the LIV Tour event at The Grange in April 2023.

Outside of work, Justin enjoys travelling with his partner, Rebekah, playing golf, visiting different golf courses around Australia and overseas and snowboarding. Harry enjoys going to the beach, experiencing new and different cuisines, spending time with his family and exploring and visiting new locations.

I look forward to the continued development of both Justin and Harry as they combine their studies with their day to day work. Both will will be wonderful assets for The Brisbane Golf Club.

I am sure you will all join me in congratulation Justin and Harrison and wishing them well in their new positions.
