Violet Midson Memorial Trophy Reminder
for the Violet Midson Memorial Trophy will be played on Tuesday, 7 March.
- The qualifying round for the Violet Midson is a STROKE round.
- Cards will be required
- Remember to tick “to qualify” at the bottom of the card.
Violet Midson, is a unique competition, allowing players of varying handicaps to have an chance of qualifying for the event as noted below:
- Once the qualifying round has been completed.
- All the cards of qualifying players are ranked according to handicap, from the lowest to the highest.
- The stack of cards is then divided into 4 equal piles.
- Each pile is then ranked according to the competition score.
- The top 4 players of each pile will make it into the match play rounds, with the lowest markers at the top and the highest markers at the bottom.
- Full handicap difference will be used for the match play rounds.
You will need to be available for all ensuing rounds is you wish to qualify for the Violet Midson
- Round 1: Thursday, 9 March
- Quarter Finals: Thursday, 16 March
- Semi Finals: Tuesday, 21 March
- Finals: Thursday, 23 March
Remember when playing stroke, to apply the maximum score rule when required:
- Maximum Score – Rule 21.2b –
“In stroke play, a player’s maximum score for a hole shall be 5 over par gross score”
o Par 3 maximum score is 8
o Par 4 maximum score is 9
o Par 5 maximum score is 10
Once the maximum score is reached pick up your ball, and continue to the next hole.
- If you are counting putts and you pick up your ball under Rule 21.2b, simply record the average of 2 putts for that hole.
