Note from the Women’s Captain
Unfortunately, the FOB cup was cancelled due to bad weather, but will be rescheduled later in the year. The course however, has benefited from the rain, and continues to look amazing, as we head into the Club Championships starting on Saturday, 20 May for full Members and Tuesday, 23 May for six-day members. It is shaping up to be an interesting competition with the current Champion, Aspen Sugars returning from the USA to defend her title.
The key dates for the matchplay rounds will be Sunday, 11 June and Sunday, 18 June with finals to be played on Sunday, 25 June.
Please note you can only play in the Club Championships or the Senior Salver, not both.
Also a reminder that you need to tick “to qualify” on your card, and for Senior Salver entrants please add the words Senior Salver as well.
For further details of conditions of play for both competitions, check the Honour Board Notice Board in the Women’s Locker Room.
It is a busy time at the moment, as we look forward to a number of events on the calendar:
Saturday, 3 June: Monthly Medal & Qualifying round for Joan Fletcher in Division 1 & 2.
Tuesday, 13 June: Monthly Medal & Tanner Cup, open event for players with a maximum daily handicap of 18.
Tuesday, 20 June: Club Foursomes Championships, 36 holes of gross foursomes with shotgun start at 7:15am and 12:15pm followed by presentation and “snacks” in the bar area when completed.
There has been a change in the conditions of play: “in the event of a tie (gross scores), the players will proceed to an immediate “sudden death” play off on the 18th hole until a result is achieved.
A tie in the nett scores will be decided by the Australian Count Back System.
18 holes of Foursomes will be available for those not wishing to participate in the Championship – use the sign-on sheet marked 18 holes only.
Tuesday, 27 June: RQ vs Brisbane Challenge Day, at RQ – we currently hold the trophy! Would be good to win back-to-back events!
Nomination sheet will open on Tuesday 23 May – you can sign up with your chosen partner.
Please let me know if you have friends at RQ that you would like to join.
8:00am Shotgun start followed by lunch.
$75 which will be taken from your Club account following the event.
It would be great if playing at RQ to wear Royal Blue shirt with white short/skirt/longs.
There will be a competition of the day at Brisbane Golf Club for those of you not able or wishing to travel to RQ.
Happy golfing to you all, hoping that you play the golf you know you can play, and remember in the words of Tiger Woods “The greatest thing about tomorrow is, I will be better than I am today!”
Regards
Janet Nathanson, Women’s Captain
