Note from the Women’s Captain
Just a brief mid-winter catch up. With continued beautiful Queensland weather we have managed to complete a lot of major events on the program, including the Violet Midson, Kerry Cup, 36 Hole Foursomes Championships and the Pennant season.
Congratulations to all participants and winners, with a special mention to all Pennant players, team captains and caddies who managed to win the three divisions that were entered.
The finals of the Club Championships and Weekend Championships will be played this weekend. Good luck to all finalists and we hope the weather will remain bright and crispy (thank you David Mason for the braziers!).
There is still a lot to look forward to over the coming weeks:
RQ vs BGC Challenge, for those who will be playing at Royal Queensland Golf Club on Tuesday, 27 June. 8am Shotgun Start, golf followed by lunch. 4BBB stableford competition, best 7 scores to count. $75 will be taken out of your member accounts after the event. Please pay for any buggies at the RQ Golf Shop on arrival. Please wear royal blue shirts with white bottoms if possible. Good luck and let’s keep the trophy for another year.
Single stableford competition for those playing at Brisbane on that day.
American Foursomes, on Tuesday. 4 July. 7:15am am Shotgun Start, golf followed by lunch in The Tennyson Room. A two-person team game – both players tee off, then swap to hit each other’s balls, after that the best one is selected, and alternate shots are played until the hole has been completed. (Instructions will be provided on the day).
Please remember all prizes for the day, including the ball run down and prize for best dressed will be awarded at lunch following golf.
The 54 Hole Stroke Event comes next with rounds on Tuesday 11 July, Thursday, 13 July and Tuesday, 18 July. Monthly Medals will be played on both Tuesdays, and putts to be counted on all three days. Gross & Nett winners in A, B & C Grades.
Guest Day on Tuesday, 25 July, please invite your guests as the nomination sheet will open on Tuesday, 27 June. You will need their Golflink number and email in to complete your entry in the nomination sheet.
Nellie Hatton qualifying in early August.
A special thank you to all the staff at The Brisbane Golf Club, who continue to make our experience a good one. To Rudy and the bar staff, Joe and everyone in the Golf Shop, and in the office Geoff Kuehner, Kymberley and Tash. Finally, to David Mason and his trusty workmen for the course and it’s amazing condition.
In the words of Dr Bob Rotella “ Golf is about how well you accept, respond to, and score with your misses much more so than it is a game of perfect shots!”
See you on the course.
Janet Nathanson, Women’s Captain
