Note from the Women’s Captain
A brief catch up as we head into the final quarter of the golfing program for 2023, hoping that the weather remains as perfect as it has been, although a little rain would be welcome.
Sunday 27 August – Cherry Cribb
The seven day members will play the six day members in the Cherry Cribb, a 4BBB stableford matchplay, where results of every match will count in the final tally. Lunch will be available to be purchased from the Garden Room with a glass of Champagne to be provided courtesy of the Women’s Welfare account. A limited nomination sheet will open on Sunday, 30 July and will remain open for ten days, so please attend to your bookings promptly. If the nomination sheet becomes full, and you wish to participate, please let me know.
Tuesday 29 August – A Triple “Wammie”
1) Grandmother’s Day
2) 20th Anniversary Cup
3) FOB cup.
A 7:30am shotgun start with lunch to follow in the Tennyson Room, an opportunity to have a chat. A single stableford will played on the day. The only two rules for Grandmother’s Day, are that you are a grandmother, and that you do not win the competition of the day as well. (FOB cup does not count!). The FOB Cup is a team event, the young and willing, against the wily experienced players, or simply those of an age up to 65, against those over 65. The top 7 scores on each side being counted to find the winning team. The 20th Anniversary Cup is as it sounds, if you have been a member for 20 years and over you are eligible to win!
Saturday, 2 September – Monthly Medal
The last of our eight Monthly Medals will be played on Saturday, 2 September and Tuesday, 5 September. Crossing fingers the weather remains fine.
Sunday 3 September – Brisbane Salver and Cup
An open event for players with a playing handicap of 18 or less. All entries are to be made via www.mitournament.com.
Course Renovations
The course will be closed for renovation from 1pm on Sundy, 10 September until Thursday, 14 September.
Eclectic and Greatest Reduction in Handicap
Our Eclectic and greatest reduction in handicap will conclude on Tuesday, 26 September and Saturday, 30 September.
2024 Trophy Donations
Membership renewals will be sent out shortly, with a request for trophy donations once again. Your $40 donation which is greatly appreciated, helps fund the prizes for the winners of all competitions played on Tuesday and Saturday. In 2024 donors will be allocated specific competitions, and once again will be named in the golf programme – returning a tradition of old!
With a final word from Bob Hope – “If you watch a game, it’s fun. If you play it, it’s recreation. If you work at it, it’s golf”
Janet Nathanson, Women’s Captain
