Wet Weather Stops the Qualifying Round of the Brisbane Shield
Sunday, 5 November, brought some much-needed rain, but created havoc with those who were playing in the qualifying round of the Brisbane Shield.
Problems first arose when the field was summoned off the course due to lightening. This meant that a majority of both morning and afternoon fields were unable to complete their qualifying round.
The decision was made to abandon the Sunday 5th November qualifying round until Sunday 12th November. It was assumed that everyone playing in the qualifying round on the 5th would have to be available on the 12th to play the next round!
All players from Sunday 5th of November have been offered time slots on Sunday 12th November. Whilst the times may not be the same, it is hoped that those allocated will be acceptable.
The competition will now be as follows:
- Qualifying Round – Sunday, 12 November
- Quarter Finals – Sunday, 19 November
- Semi Finals – Sunday, 26 November
- The Final is currently scheduled to be played at the end of the morning field on Sunday, 3 December
The Match Committee is aware that this is not a perfect date, as the Shootout final is scheduled for the afternoon of 3rd December. Any potential clashes will be dealt with appropriately.
Thank you to all players for your understanding and patience. Thank you also to the terrific Pro-Shop Staff, Tyler, Adam and Karla who were on the coal face today and with Joe at the end of a phone line, dealing with all the moving parts.
If there are any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out.
Kind regards
Janet Nathanson, Women’s Captain
Ash Sturmer, Men’s Captain
