Course Superintendent Appointed

Our new Course Superintendent will commence work at the Club on Monday 5 August.

Marcus Hartup has over 30 years’ experience in turf management, working as Course Superintendent or Director of Agronomy in five different countries.

Marcus is returning to Australia after 4 years as the Director of Agronomy at Vattanac Golf Resort in Cambodia.

Previously, he held senior roles at Brookwater Golf Club, Pacific Harbour Golf & Country Club, Abu Dhabi Golf Club, Saadiyat Beack Golf Club and The Els Club.

Marcus was part of the team that led the construction and opening of both Brookwater and Pacific Harbour and in that period presented both courses in peak condition.

He gained further experience in turf management in the United States, Abu Dhabi, Malaysia and more recently Cambodia.

Marcus shared that he is thrilled to be joining The Brisbane Golf Club team. He sees enormous potential for further course improvement and intends to prioritise course presentation year-round.

The selection panel consisting of Deb Kember (President), Andrew Mullis (Treasurer), Richard Garnham (Course Chair), Geoff Kuehner (CEO) and David Lunardelli (Troon) reviewed applications received from across Australia and internationally.

We prioritised finding a candidate with extensive experience in South-East Queensland and expertise in cultivating warm season grasses.

We are very excited to welcome Marcus to our team and look forward to seeing further enhancement to course presentation for our Members and guests.

Regards
