Women’s Pennant News – May 17 & 19
We are reaching the end of the season for our pennant teams.
Sapphire Zone 2 the “Kelly, Kerrie Gang” had their last game on Friday. Congratulations to all the members of the team, namely Pat Goh, Kerrie O’Callaghan, Allison Cook, Kelly Stoddart, Kelly Hill, Anna Roberts, Kerry Estella, Berenice Holmes, Laura Cunning and Captain Kate Morgan. Many of the players were first time pennant players, with minimal match play experience, but they learned fast, and showed terrific team spirit as they travelled around Brisbane environs, playing most of the courses for the first time. They were unable to repeat their first game win, but gave credible performances for all their matches, and no doubt can’t wait to give pennants a go in 2025.
Sapphire Zone 3, Captained by Anna Lyons, had a narrow loss playing McLeod at Oxley on Friday. With Leigh Francis, Susan Eagleton and Robyn Wanless winning their matches, and Anna Lyons, Angela Cottrell, Vicki Mounts and Jenny Somers losing theirs. They have one more game, being played at Brisbane against Gailes next Friday. With Brisbane lying a close second to Gailes, hoping the home course advantage will assist in the overall results.
Friday Yellow Diamond hosted pennants on 17 May. The team took advantage of playing against RQ at Brisbane winning 5/2. With Aspen Sugars, Angelina Drakos, Fiona Elsdon, Margot McNee and Ann Fell winning their games, and Caroline Martin and Lisa Schoutrop just falling short.
A special thanks to all those members who helped host pennants on Friday, making it a truly successful day at Brisbane.
Sunday Yellow Diamond’s played on 19 May at Nudgee against RQ. They certainly met their match with Safina Kyprianou, Jodi Holmes, Susan McDougall, Jody Pezet, Kim Knight, Jen Berkman and Yvonne Butcher unable to score a single win. The final game will be played next Sunday against Nudgee at Oxley.
Good luck to all players and caddies for their final games of the season.
