Course Enhancement Plan CEPs

The Committee has recently distributed the course enhancement plan prepared in conjunction with Course Architect, Paul Mogford.

The questions below have been compiled based on feedback obtain from Members and will be regularly updated for the benefit of all Members.

If you have a questions please email it to me via geoff@brisbanegolfclub.com.au.

What is the purpose of a course enhancement plan?

The Course Enhancement Plan is a valuable strategic tool for the current and future Committees. It will be used to create a short-term priority list for inclusion in our infrastructure and funding plans. The Course architects have provided the Club with a vision of our course in the future and a cohesive masterplan for incremental improvement that can be staged and structured over a long period of time.

What is the cost/benefit relationship of the proposed changes?

At this stage the CEP is a concept document which is yet to be prioritised or costed. The Committee will consider each project in terms of return on investment or cost/benefit. Obtaining feedback from Members is an important step prior to finalising any plans .

What grasses will be used on tees, fairways & greens?

A decision on the type of grass used is yet to be discussed. The Committee will engage with our new course superintendent, Troon and other golf clubs in South-East Queensland to do its due diligence. At this stage the Committee is only considering grasses for our greens.

When will the major works commence? Will the work happen all at one or be staged?

There is no start date at present or implementation plan for the major works. The Committee is working on an infrastructure plan and funding model which will provide members with an understanding of what projects across the entire golf club are the priority, how they may be funded and their timing.

By increasing the size of water ways and adding to the number of water ways, will we have enough water or will it increase the likelihood of the course it looking dry?

The Club has worked with an engineer to develop the plan for our waterways. Their inclusion is twofold. Firstly, to increase our water storage and secondly to improve the visual presentation of the course.  Storage and water levels will be impacted at times of low rain fall or drought. We cannot guarantee that waterways will always be at capacity. The risk of them being empty or at low levels needs to be considered before they constructed.

Do you have a count for how many trees will be removed and replaced or are we overall in going to be same tree count?

The Committee does not want to reduce the number of trees on course. The Landscape Master Plan is currently being reviewed and will show the new landscape planting areas throughout the course. It is worth noting that there will be substantially more future native species planted moving forward.

What measures will be taken to ensure the safety of golfers on the 16th green If the existing back tee is to be used to convert the 5th Hole to a Par 5?

More work will need to be done to assess the safety of the design for the 5th hole. The course architect is comfortable from that perspective.
