This message summarises the resolutions and updates discussed at the January Board meeting. Links to documents and online resources are in bold.

1. Vale Bruce Richter: Bruce’s family has advised that there will not be a memorial service or function in accordance with Bruce’s wishes. The vale is available via this link.

2. Green Resurfacing Trial:  The work on greens 19,20 and 21 is proceeding on time and ahead of budget. The 19th green is now stolonised and 20, 21 will be completed this week. They are expected to be back in play within 12 weeks. During the green re-surfacing trial, holes 19, 20 and 21 are closed. Read more in the Course Update.

3. 2025 US Masters’ Calcutta Sweep: The BGC Foundation’s fundraising event opens on Saturday 8 February and concludes with a Calcutta Luncheon on Thursday 10 April. The proceeds will contribute to future capital works projects.

4. BGC Constitution: The new Constitution has been approved by the Office of Fair Trading and is available on the Club website.

5. Committees and Lead Volunteers: Introducing Peter Walker as Men’s Vice Captain. Peter joined the Club as a Junior in 1985 and since that time has represented the club in Pennant Teams and has won 12 Honour Board events. Access the list of appointments here.

6. Winter Loan Notes: Winter Loan Notes will be offered in 2025 to members who qualify as sophisticated investors. They enable the Club to reduce interest expenses and offer participating members the opportunity to gain a better than market return on their cash investments. Contact our CEO Geoff Kuehner, on 0411 412 666 or via geoff@brisbanegolfclub.com.au.

7. Dress standards: Please remind each other and your guests of the value placed on dress standards at the Club. The Club’s dress code applies to everyone across all parts of the Club. Staff are authorised by the Board to deny access to all facilities to any Member and/or guest who does not meet the requirements of the dress code.

8. Secure belongings: A golf bag was stolen from the forecourt lawn recently. The incident was reported to the police, who advised that such thefts are becoming increasingly common in the area. Accordingly, the bag drop stand has been relocated to the clubhouse side of the golf shop.

9. Scholarship opportunities: Golf Australia and The Golf Leaders Network (GLN) offer professional development programs for members and staff. Access the Golf Australia opportunities here. Nominate an eligible member for the GLN Future Leaders Program by contacting Deb Kember. Access more information via this link.

10. Queensland Academy of Sport High Performance Squad: Some of Queensland’s best young golfers will continue to train on either Mondays or Fridays at BGC in 2025. BGC was recently recognised by the PGA for our support and service. Look for Quinton Croker – Au and QLD Amateur Champion; BGC Pennant players Billy Dowling, Kai Komulainen, Hannah Reeves; as well as Justice Bosio, Elvis Smylie, just to name a few.

11. Brisbane Markets Limited: BML have continued to express interest in acquiring part of the Club’s land. The Board has reconfirmed that we have no interest in discussing the matter further.

12. Miscellaneous notes:

  • The driveway is expected to be completed this week. We thank Members for their patience while we were delayed by wet weather and the Christmas and New Year break.
  • Flood monitoring cameras are now installed in four locations around the course. They will provide early flood alerts for the management team.
  • A Development Application has been lodged for the new Machinery Shed site. The Brisbane City Council will respond within the next 12 months.
