Board Update March 2025

This message summarises the resolutions and updates discussed at the March Board meeting. Links to documents and online resources are in bold.

1. Green Resurfacing Program: Holes 19, 20 and 21 are expected to reopen in April. Atlas Golf Services will be engaged for the remainder of the green resurfacing program. Read details about the resurfacing project and impact on golf play in the attached documents (Logistics and Golf Play).

2. Bunker condition and course update: Bunkers have been impacted by recent unprecedented rainfall which has reached 600mm of rain this month with a further 50mm of heavy rain predicted this week. Before essential maintenance works can be completed the bunkers need to dry out and its important to manage the timing of these works outside of further rain events. Rejuenavation of the bunkers remains an urgent proiority. Read a general Course Update here.

3. Board member retirement: Patrick Dixon is stepping down from the Board due to travel commitments and family obligations that prevent him from participating in meetings.  Patrick was first elected to the Committee in December 2011 when John Caris commenced as President. He was Member Services Chair from this time until 2017 then from December 2023 until March 2025. Patrick and our CEO, Geoff Kuehner focussed on increasing and diversifying the age and gender of membership, developing a new website, introducing social media, broadening of social events, establishing the movement space, introducing Christmas food orders, Family membership discounts and the Members Handbook. In addition, his advocacy for restoring our Clubhouse to its federation origins is a legacy that will continue to inspire current and future Boards. We extend our sincere thanks to Patrick for his dedication and determination to help evolve the Club into a contemporary heritage venue, offering a welcoming atmosphere for all members.

4. Dress code: Members are requested to advise guests of our dress code prior to attending the Club. For easy reference the dress code is now accessible on the App.

5. Fairfield Road land lease: Members approved leasing of land to CPB Contractors who are working on the Cross River Rail Project for a period of two years. The contractors have commenced work on the site to prepare the land for use as a parking facility.

6. Membership update: Club Membership is close to maximum levels. Five Full memberships are available then a waitlist will be in place for the next 12 months.

7. Billboards: The billboards on club land on Tennyson Memorial Avenue and Fairfield Rad will be dismantled and removed from Monday, 14 May. The billboards are no longer viable for the company leasing the land.

8. Automatic top-ups: Members are invited to sign up for the house account automatic top up facility. All identified issues with the program have been resolved and merchant fees have been removed when members top up using this facility. When the balance falls below a chosen amount (e.g., $50), it will be automatically replenished by a set amount (e.g., $100), ensuring funds are always available without the need for manual transfers. If you wish to participate, please complete the attached form and return to the BGC Office.
