Tropical Cyclone Alfred Update
Tropical Cyclone Alfred is forecast to cross the coast in South East Queensland on Thursday as a Category 2 system. While there remains a degree of uncertainty around its exact path and impact, the Board and Management Team at the Club are taking a proactive approach to ensure we are fully prepared.
Our Management Team has already begun implementing key elements of our cyclone action plan today. Their strategy anticipates the immediate effects of the cyclone and any subsequent rainfall or storm activity, including the possibility of follow-up flooding. The comprehensive approach is designed to safeguard the Club’s facilities and ensure the safety of our members and staff.
We will continue to closely monitor daily updates from the State Government and the Bureau of Meteorology and adapt our preparations accordingly. Our key tasks include:
- Securing Club facilities and infrastructure against potential high winds and heavy rain.
- Preparing the course and maintenance areas to minimise potential damage.
- Communicating timely updates to members as the situation evolves including updates on whether or not the course is required to close.
Should there be any significant developments, we will provide further updates promptly via the App feed (middle button), email and via Latest News in the members section of the website.
We also take this opportunity to advise members to take every precaution to ensure their personal safety and the safety of their loved ones.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work through this preparation period. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact our CEO, Geoff Kuehner on 0411 412 666 or via geoff@brisbanegolfclub.com.au.
Kind regards
