Tropical Cyclone Alfred Update
The rain has eased today after a challenging few days. This morning, the Board and management team began implementing our recovery plan with the primary goal of getting members back out playing as soon as possible.
Here is an update on the current situation:
Flood Levels
Flood levels are receding, which is encouraging. Yesterday’s rainfall brought the total since Thursday, 6 March to just under 500mm. With the forecast showing significant improvement, we’re hopeful our course team will be back in action shortly. It’s essential to allow the course some time to dry before recovery work begins to prevent any further damage.
Power Outages
Both the Clubhouse and Golf Shop remain without power; however, power is restored to the maintenance shed. Unfortunately, the Clubhouse and Golf Shop will remain closed until power is fully restored.
Course Closure
The course will remain closed until the end of the week. If conditions improve as expected, we aim to allow walkers on the course from Saturday, 15 March 2025. This will depend on how quickly the course recovers. It may be even sooner, all things going well.
Volunteers Needed
On Wednesday, 12 March 2025, volunteers can assist in collecting debris from the course. They will focus on the removal of smaller items, working in groups of 12, hole by hole. We’re seeking 24 volunteers for a 7.00am start and another 24 for a 12.00pm start, with shifts lasting two to three hours. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. You can sign up on the timesheet, click here to volunteer.
Putting Competition
At this stage, our putting competition will proceed as planned on Friday, 12 March 2025 commencing at 4.30pm. Our Executive Chef, Gilliam Hirst, will be preparing two delicious paellas for members to enjoy during the event. This promises to be a wonderful opportunity to bring everyone back together at the Club and share in some fun. If you’d like to attend, don’t hesitate to add your name to the waitlist. Members are also welcome to come and watch.
Practice Facilities
We’re hopeful the West and East greens, The Range, and the Swing & Putting Studio will reopen on Wednesday, 12 March 2025. This will give members the chance to hit some balls and practice their short game.
Swing & Putting Studio
While the course remains closed, members are invited to book the Swing & Putting Studio and enjoy playing one of the many iconic courses available on Trackman. Whether playing solo or with a partner, you’ll have ample time to complete 18 holes on your own or 9 holes each with a partner. The cost is $60 per hour. Please note that both players need to play righthanded or both play lefthanded. Click here to make a booking.
