Board Update – June 2025
This message summarises the resolutions and updates discussed at the June Board meeting. Links to documents and online resources are in bold.
1. Congratulations and thank you: Compliments to all involved in organising, preparing the course (staff and volunteers), playing, caddying and watching the recent Club Championships. Cheers to the winning Women’s Pennant teams and members achievements at the Club and beyond. Read more on Instagram.
2. Dine at the Club: Enjoy the new menu created by our Executive Chef, Gillian Hirst with playing partners, club friends and guests. Dine around the Garden Room or in the Members Lounge. Make a booking for you and your guests by contacting our CEO, Geoff Kuehner, at geoff@brisbanegolfclub.com.au.
3. Hospitality Team appointments: Kassie Tang is now our full-time Front of House Manager, focusing on daily operations and member service. Freya Gall has returned to support events and weddings, working closely with Gillian Hirst and CEO Geoff Kuehner, while Matt Tanner and Peter Collins continue in their valued roles supporting events and corporate golf days. Read more here.
4. Golf booking change: Timesheets for all days of the week will open 8 days prior to the round, commencing 6.00pm on Sunday 27 July for a Monday 4 August round. From 21 July, the 2-week timesheets will be closed. The intent is to maximise playing opportunities for all members and minimise withdrawals, particularly during the green replacement period.
5. Course update: Read about how greens 11-13 are progressing and how greens 19-21 are settling in the green resurfacing update. For the latest general course update click here.
6. Cart care: Please take care driving carts near the waterways on the course. While geofencing provides a guide for drivers, maintaining distance from the edge of waterways enhances the safety of drivers and passengers.
7. Men’s Pennants: BGC begins its 2025 campaign on Sunday, 13 July, chasing a historic fourth consecutive Division 1 title. Our talented squad across all divisions includes Sam Howse and veteran Stephen Deane. Following three tough away games, the team will finish the season at BGC. Members are welcome at all games. Read the Season Preview.
8. Member Benefits Review: Information is now available on the first stage of updates to fees and benefits to be implemented from 1st October 2025. The increases will contribute to improving and extending club facilities for members. Read more here.
9. Membership renewals reminder: Members intending to upgrade to 6-day or Full membership at renewal time in September are requested to advise our CEO Geoff Kuehner now, to ensure a place at the top of the waiting list. Full membership numbers are based on the capacity of the Saturday time sheet to cater for the members expecting to play.
10. New Ice Machine Installation: A new ice machine will be installed outside the Golf Shop this week. The upgraded unit has a production capacity of 290 kilograms of ice per 24 hours, which is expected to comfortably meet the daily requirements of our members. The new machine will not dispense water, however, drinking water will remain readily available from the existing fountain located adjacent to the new unit. During the installation process, expected to be one day, there will be no ice available.
11. History Tour Invitation: BGC is hosting a tour for the Annerley-Stephens History Group 9.30am to 11.00am Monday 7 July. Join members Mike O’Shea, Rob Hollingworth, Greg Mellifont and myself as we share the story of how our club has evolved from vision to vibrant community. Limited places are available for this first event. Register here.
