Board Update – September 2025
This message summarises the resolutions and updates discussed at the September Board meeting. Links to documents and online resources are in bold.
1. Volunteer acknowledgements: The time and energy of our 175 volunteers who support the golf of others and/or the work of the Management Team will be celebrated at a function on Thursday 6 November. Nominations for Special Acknowledgements are open until Monday 20 October. Members are invited to submit a paragraph outlining the contribution and impact of members admired or especially thanked for their efforts, excluding the Board. Send an email to our CEO, Geoff Kuehner, at geoff@brisbanegolfclub.com.au. A panel will be established to select the final list of Special Acknowledgements.
2. Green replacement program: Greens 2,7,8 and the West putting green have had the stolons laid and the grow in period has commenced. On schedule, work on stage 3 greens continued this week. Read more.
3. Timesheet changes: Thank you for your patience and feedback about playing 9 holes twice for 18-hole competitions. Changes effectively immediately: (1) A course marshal will be present Wednesdays and Saturdays; (2) Afternoon field starts will be from 10.26am every day; (3) Call up on all Par 3’s is compulsory – see tee signage. Commencing Wednesday, 8 October the first tee time will be 5.46am. We will keep monitoring timesheet issues to improve your experience. Read more
4. Code of conduct: Several complaints of unbecoming behaviour by members at our Club and at others were recently received. All complaints are treated seriously as they have the potential to compromise the wellbeing and safety of members, guests, and staff. In accordance with Rule 32 in the Constitution, the Board established independent member-based Disciplinary Committees to investigate the recent complaints. The Committees imposed some restrictions and suspensions, ranging from 3 months to 12 months. The members of the Disciplinary Committees consisted of current and former Board/Club Committee members with relevant expertise and impartiality. The Board documented procedures for Disciplinary Committees for future reference and published a Code of Conduct. The Code will be added to the Members Handbook available on the club website; About Us > Brochure Library or click here to view.
5. Bee apiary: The bee hives located between the 11th tee and the 12th fairway, are designed to raise the sustainability capacity of the club. Further safety measures have been adopted, including clearer signage and a no play zone established. A confidential register of allergies is operational and sending an email to our CEO, Geoff Kuehner, at geoff@brisbanegolfclub.com.au will keep the Club informed. The hives are registered with Biosecurity Queensland and are maintained by a registered local beekeeper.
6. Course update: See video course updates on Instagram.
