2026 US Masters’ Calcutta Sweep

On behalf of the Board of The Brisbane Golf Club Foundation I am pleased to announce the launch of the Foundation’s 2026 US Masters’ Calcutta Sweep. The sweep begins on Saturday 28 February 2026 and runs through to the Masters on 9 April 2026.

For those not familiar with a Calcutta Sweep, or perhaps not a Calcutta on a golf event, I will explain a little about how our sweep works.

The 2026 US Masters Calcutta Sweep is a game conducted on this year’s US Masters scheduled for April 2026 enabling those wishing to play to:

(a) buy a raffle ticket for a chance to be allocated, by lot, a group of players in the event; and/or
(b) bid in an auction for each of the allocated groups of players.

Prizes are awarded initially to those whose raffle tickets are drawn and ultimately to those who have successfully bid for groups of players among whom are players who achieve success at the 2026 US Masters.

Raffle Tickets

Tickets in the raffle are available for purchase in bundles of 2 for $50, 5 for $100, 11 for $200 or 30 for $500. Tickets can be purchased from the Golf Shop or by emailing the Foundation (foundation@brisbanegolfclub.com.au). Ticket purchases may be charged to your Club account.

On Thursday 9 April 2026, the Foundation will hold a Calcutta Luncheon at the Club where 20 winning raffle tickets will be drawn from a barrel. Each drawn ticket holder becomes the Initial Owner of a group of players in the 2026 Masters.

In 2025, the highest prize received by the holders of drawn raffle tickets was $950 with the average winning ticket holder receiving $580.

Auction

Each of the playing groups is auctioned at the Calcutta Luncheon. The owner of the highest bid for each group becomes the Ultimate Owner of that playing group and shares in the spoils of the Prize Pool. While it is difficult to estimate the final size of the 2026 Prize Pool, the Prize Pool in 2025 totalled $18,630. With changes to the structure for this year, we believe the 2026 Prize Pool will exceed the 2025 total. The Ultimate Owner of the group which has among its players the 2026 US Masters’ Winner, will receive 60% of the Prize Pool. In 2025 the winning syndicate received more than $11,000 and we expect this will be greater in 2026 subject to the level of participation. Other cash prizes are available for the runner up, the leader after each of the first three rounds as well as a number of other exotic categories. See attached.

Groups and Syndicates

One of the endearing features of a Calcutta Sweep is that it enables those playing to pool resources to form syndicates. For instance, why not form a group with your regular playing partners. Give the group a Syndicate name, which you can put on the ticket butt, and if that ticket is one of the 20 drawn the whole group has an initial stake in the Playing Group and proceeds from the auction. Then there is the auction itself where syndicates are formed to secure the most fancied groups with a higher chance of gaining some of the Prize Pool. The 2025 auction was very exciting.

The Calcutta Sweep is a great opportunity to involve not just members at the Club but also family, friends and members from other clubs in an exciting and suspenseful game as well as raising funds for The Brisbane Golf Club Foundation. The Board seeks your support for this initiative. You never know, you may just walk away with a big cash prize.

The full terms and conditions are on display at the Club and can be accessed on the Club’s website under the Foundation tab.
