Message from the President – Project Unity
Since my last message to Members in September, there has been extensive discussions about Project Unity by our Club Committee, Member Services Sub-Committee and Ladies’ Committee. We have noted there has been minimal member feedback regarding the actual model as proposed in my message. In view of these committee discussions, we are now in a position to move forward and propose a Motion to the voting Members of the Club after our Annual General Meeting in December. The Club will give notification to Members of this EGM and the Motion in the coming weeks.
I wish to highlight again the positive features of this model to all Members of the Club.
- Project Unity has the united support of both the Club Committee and the Ladies’ Committee.
- Creates a committee structure that supports men and women to work together under a single banner.
- All Members will have equal opportunities and be encouraged to join or participate in sub-committees.
- All current golfing and social events of women’s golf will be preserved and enhanced by sitting under the Member Services Sub-Committee.
- The sub-committee structures in Project Unity will allow greater participation, communication, efficiencies and co-operation.
- Ensures that women’s golf is led by women and men’s golf led by men – with the opportunity for both the Women’s Captain and Men’s Captain to sit on the Club Committee.
Although there has been some feedback regarding eligibility of voting rights for 6 Day Lady Members, the Club Committee strongly believes that the current Rules of the Club are appropriate.
Project Unity and the associated changes to the Committee structures is truly the right step at the right time for this Club. Already over the past few years I have witnessed many examples of increasing unity and sharing of ideas between all Members of the Club. Project Unity will formalise this opportunity and transform the Club into a more efficient, co-ordinated and modern organisation.
I therefore highly recommend Project Unity to all Club Members and look forward to Member Support at the EGM.
If you have any questions please contact myself or our CEO, Geoff Kuehner.
Kind regards
Mark Deuble, President
