Note from the President – Flood Update

I am pleased to report the clean-up process at The Brisbane Golf Course is well underway and that our team of staff and volunteers have been working extremely hard during this week. I also hope that our Members are recovering well from the effects of the Brisbane Floods. Indeed, it has been a tumultuous week for all of us.

We expect that all our greens will be free of floodwater, debris and silt by this time tomorrow. This is excellent news and better than we could have anticipated last weekend. Gradually staff and our volunteers have also been clearing the course of general debris and mulch.

With water levels still high in certain areas of the course there is not much for our volunteers to do. As a result we have decided to cancel the volunteers on Friday and Saturday.

Additionally, following the warning from the Premier of possible bad weather over the weekend it is safer for Members to be off the roads and at home.

Further clean-up work will begin again Monday with a focus on the ongoing clearing of debris on the fairways and rough. I want to reassure all Members that the flooding has not impacted our course as heavily as in 2011 or 1974. We are confident all greens will recover at this stage.

I would like to thank all our staff for their tireless efforts this week. I would also like to thank all Members who have assisted in the clean-up process this week. Volunteers will be able to book on-line again for next week’s clean-up from Monday to Friday in the morning or afternoon.

I look forward to our course returning to playability as soon as possible and wish all Members a safe weekend.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact our CEO, Geoff Kuehner via geoff@brisbanegolfclub.com.au. Additionally if there are Members wishing to access their golf clubs please let him know.

Kind regards

Mark Deuble, President
