More Changes to Women’s Golf Schedule
Gosh! it really feels a bit like “Groundhog Day”!
As Brisbane has received unprecedented amounts of rain in the last 3 weeks, every Member of The Brisbane Golf Club has been impacted upon – and we ask for your continued patience and understanding as the program is shuffled once again. We are all having to compromise during this time, as we attempt to achieve the best for everyone with what we have.
Once again, the last two rounds of the Club Championships have had to be rescheduled.
Right now, it is presumed that whilst the course may open this week, it is likely to be for walkers only. With that in mind, and every finger crossed that the sun will shine – Round 3 will take place on Tuesday, 31 May and the Final Round of the Club Championships, which is a seeded draw, will happen on Thursday, 2 June.
The new program for the moment, weather permitting will read as follows:
Tuesday, 7 June: Stroke, Violet Midson Qualifying
Thursday, 9 June: 7:15am Shotgun Start, Single Stableford & 12:15pm Shotgun with Corporate Day
Tuesday, 14 June: Monthly Medal & Tanner Cup (See below for more information)
Thursday, 16 June: Single Stableford & Round 1 Matchplay’s for Violet Midson
Tuesday, 21 June: 36 Hole Foursomes Championships
Thursday, 23 June: Single Stableford & Quarter Finals for Violet Midson
Tuesday, 28 June: Single Stableford & Violet Midson Semi-Finals
Thursday, 30 June: Single Stableford, 3rd Round Winter Cup & Finals of Violet Midson
The Tanner Cup will be played in conjunction with Monthly Medal on Tuesday, 14 June. This is an open Nett Event for players with a maximum playing handicap of 18. A nomination sheet will open at 6am on Tuesday, 24 May, for those players wishing compete for the Tanner Cup – this will allow Guests who have nominated to play, to be integrated seamlessly in the field. The actual timesheet will open as usual 14 days prior to the competition with 40 spots blocked off between 7:40am and 8:15am for the competitors of the Tanner Cup. Once the nominated players have been allocated to the timesheet, it is hoped that the draw will be respected, however, it will be possible to make changes to your booking by calling the Pro-Shop.
For full Members who usually play on a Saturday, changes have also been made, as we negotiate times with the Men who are attempting to complete their qualifying rounds for the Club Championships. The adjusted programme will read as follows:
Saturday, 28 May: Men’s Championships A&C Grade Round 1 – Limited field for women
Saturday, 4 June: Men’s Championships A,B & C Grade Round 2 – Normal booking but possible limited field for women
Saturday, 11 June: Shotgun start: Single Stableford Weekend Memorial Trophy
Saturday, 18 June: Monthly Medal & 2nd Round Heather Timms
Saturday, 25 June: Monthly Medal & First Round Ex WAAAF Trophy
Saturday, 2 July: 36 Hole Foursomes Championships 36 Hole Foursomes
Saturday, 9 July: Single Stableford & Quarter Finals Joan Fletcher
Saturday, 16 July: Single Stableford & Semi Finals Joan Fletcher
Saturday, 23 July: Monthly Medal & Finals Joan Fletcher
As I cross fingers this program will be completed without further adjustment, I ask that you spare a thought for our new Course Superintendent David Mason and the loyal course staff, who are labouring under considerably difficult conditions to present our course in the best possible condition.
Kind regards
Janet Nathanson, Women’s Captain
