Honorary Life Membership Nomination
On behalf of the Club Committee, I have great pleasure in nominating long term Member Mr Peter Castrisos for Honorary Life Membership. The nomination has the unanimous support of the Club Committee in accordance with Rule 6 and the criteria set out by the Club for this prestigious award.
Peter has been a Member of Brisbane Golf Club since 1 January 1985, and I would like to list some of Peter’s outstanding service contributions to the Club and the golf industry in Australia.
- Peter was Vice President of the Club from 2001-2003 and then President from 2004-2006. During his Presidency the Club managed a challenging period of drought, maintained profitability and implemented a 3-stage plan to upgrade the Clubhouse.
- Peter has maintained an active interest in the Rules of Golf throughout his life and is now a Golf Australia referee at many major national and international golfing tournaments. He has volunteered his services also to the Club many times for matches and rules information nights.
- He was a Member of Golf Queensland inaugural Board from 2007 – 2016, becoming its Chair in 2012.
- During this time, he was instrumental in re-establishing the Queensland Open which was played at our course 2016-2018
- In November 2016 he was elected to the Golf Australia Board where he has now completed two terms of office as of November 2022.
- In October 2022 he was awarded the Services to Golf Award at the Queensland Golf Industry Awards
- Peter has conducted himself with courtesy, respect and humility. His support of up-and-coming young golfers has been particularly notable.
It is therefore with pride that the Club Committee recommends this nomination at the Annual General Meeting to be held on Saturday, 10 December 2022 at 6pm.
