Course Update with David Mason – Green Renovations
Please refer to the following note from our Course Superintendent, David Mason regarding our green renovations which will occur from 12.30pm on Sunday, 8 January 2023 to Tuesday, 10 January 2023 inclusive.
The course will be closed during this time as will the Clubhouse, Golf Shop, Driving Range, Spare Holes and the West and East Greens. Members who need to collect their golf clubs to play elsewhere will need to make arrangements to collect them before 12.30pm on Sunday, 8 January 2023.
As the greens finally return to normal, another renovation will be undertaken on certain playing surfaces during the second week of January. This light renovation will include putting surface works, continuing to concentrate on aeration and grain management as well as tee complexes and continued aeration. Grooming, brushing and sand topdressing will be undertaken on the greens, which is essential to ensure smooth and true putting surfaces. Air injection will also be completed during the scheduled closure. Tee complexes will be aerated and topdressed to ensure the surfaces are in desirable condition and plant health is optimum for the growing season.
The renovations are coinciding with ideal weather conditions, enabling quick recovery and minimal disruption. It is anticipated that full recovery will be achieved within 3 weeks, aside from the evidence of sand on the surfaces as continued dusting (light sand topdressing) will continue as required.
These maintenance strategies are to continue in the months ahead in an attempt to reverse accumulated thatch and excess grain issues, which are the result of previous management techniques that have not been aggressive enough and give our members, their guests and visitors to the club the best possible putting surfaces, regardless of the grass type. The aim of all the ongoing works, including renovations, bunker work and weed control is to ensure that premium playing surfaces are achieved and at the best condition they can be for as many days of the year as possible.

As always, video updates will be posted regularly to explain the processes and recovery times of our renovations and greens.
