Mowing Changes on Greens
Just a quick note that the perimeter laps of most greens have been extended to increase green’s size and reduce the effect of the zoysia in the collars. Mowing the zoysia at greens height will reduce the negative impact the surface has on a ball that bounces on the strip around the greens. We haven’t completely removed this from happening but have reduced it considerably.
The photos below, show examples of what the golfer will experience, although relatively easy to see, some golfers may find it difficult to determine the green and collar. The decision was made to mow the areas down during the end of the ’summer’ period to ensure recovery if scalping is to occur. It will also ensure that the perimeters of the putting greens will be visible for Pennant and Club Championships later in the year.
