Captain’s Log
As we approach the end of 2025, I’d like to thank everyone for their continued support, patience, and good spirit throughout what has been a challenging but ultimately rewarding season. Whether it has been the persistent rain or the ongoing green replacement program, your understanding has been greatly appreciated. We are now very close to reaching the finish line, and the results will be worth it.
Recent Winners
Mt Stafford Trophy
Well done to John Murray and Andrew Hackwood who defeated Nic Wilson and Dennis May 6&5 in the final. A great achievement winning the title named after our longest serving Professional.
Brisbane Shield
Congratulation to the 63rd winners of The Brisbane Shield, Andrew Poulton and Anne Clifton who defeated John and Helen Caris 5&3.
Major Events & Key Dates
Mocatta Trophy Final – Friday, 6 December 2025
The Mocatta Final will be played on Friday, 6 December, between the pairs of John Caris & Nick Nicolaou and Ray Walter & Nic Wilson. Best of luck to both teams. A couple of wily old foxes in those pairings!
Closing Day – Saturday, 6 December 2025
We wrap up the official playing season on the same day. Always a great opportunity to end the year on a high note.
Ham-brose – Saturday, 20 December 2025
A club favourite returns. We are hoping to run two shotgun starts over 16 fun holes.
Get your team together, enjoy a relaxed festive format, and you might walk away with a Christmas Ham perfect for the family lunch. Thanks to Geoff Moore, Glen Trimble, Brian McPherson and Phil Wikman for their continued sponsorship of this great event.
Looking Ahead to 2026
Opening Days
Full Member Men’s Opening Day and the Mocatta Qualifying Round have been confirmed for Saturday, 28 February 2026. The Oldest Member Cup Qualifying will take place on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.
Six Day Women Members will have their Opening Day on Tuesday, 17 February 2026 with Full Member Women kicking off their season and Johnson Staines qualifying round on Saturday, 21 February 2026. This later start is intentional as we want to ensure the course and staff have as much time as possible, following the greens replacement program, to present the course the best they can for the start of the golfing year.
Men’s Major Events Presentation Night – Friday, 20 February 2026
Please save the date for our Men’s 2025 Major Events Presentation Night.
It will be a wonderful evening celebrating the achievements of our players across the year. All members are welcome as we will aim to provide a unique theme to the evening. Details to follow.
Rules & Etiquette
Pitch Marks on Greens
Our new greens are performing beautifully, but pitch marks are becoming a noticeable issue.
Please get into the habit of repairing your own pitch mark as you walk onto the green, and if you see another, take a moment to repair it as well. Leading by example makes a huge difference to course quality for everyone. Click here to learn more about repairing pitch marks.
Two Pin Positions – Important Rule Reminder
As we continue to play with two pin placements, please remember the following:
When playing 18 holes, you are NOT permitted to practise to the hole you have not yet played, under Rule 5.2b. The white flag and the yellow flag indicate two completely different holes. Click here to learn more about Rule 5.2b.
Once again, thank you to all members for your patience, sportsmanship and support throughout 2025. We look forward to a strong finish to the year and an exciting start to 2026.
Wishing all members and their families a safe and enjoyable festive season.
Kind regards
Dean Castrisos Julie Brown
