The Brisbane Golf Club is proud to announce that our Assistant Course Superintendent,\u00a0Alex Blakey, has been selected to participate in the\u00a02025\u201326 Future Turf Managers\u2019 Initiative (FTMI)\u00a0a world-renowned program designed to develop the next generation of leaders in the turf management industry.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0FTMI, delivered by the\u00a0Australian Sports Turf Managers Association (ASTMA)\u00a0in partnership with\u00a0Jacobsen and supported by the\u00a0New Zealand Golf Course Superintendents Association (NZGCSA), provides high-level education and mentoring for emerging turf professionals aspiring to become course superintendents, ground managers, head curators, or senior leaders in the field.<\/p>\n
Since its introduction to Australia at the 2016 Melbourne conference, the program has seen more than\u00a0200 graduates progress through its ranks. The 2025\u201326 program will be delivered through a\u00a0five-month hybrid model, beginning with online learning in November before culminating in a\u00a0face-to-face workshop and graduation ceremony in Melbourne next March.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s FTMI cohort represents a wide range of turf management disciplines \u2014 from\u00a0golf and racing to cricket and major sports venues\u00a0like the MCC. Participants hail from some of\u00a0Australia and New Zealand\u2019s most prestigious golf courses, including\u00a0Kingston Heath Golf Club,\u00a0Barwon Heads Golf Club,\u00a0The Hills and\u00a0Te Arai Links.<\/p>\n
Geoff Kuehner, CEO of The Brisbane Golf Club, congratulated Alex on his achievement, saying:<\/p>\n
