Welcome to another Captain\u2019s Report.<\/p>\n

In this edition you will find very important information about the upcoming Club Championships. Please take the time to look at this and familiarise yourself with the dates relevant to you.<\/p>\n

April has treated us to a truly magnificent spell of autumn golf with clear skies, mild days and a course that\u2019s been a pleasure to play. While a gentle drop of rain wouldn\u2019t go astray, it\u2019s safe to say we\u2019re all enjoying conditions far kinder than those we faced this time last year. The greens are steadily finding their rhythm and rolling more consistently each week thanks to the great work of the course team. As for the new greens on 14, 15 and 16, they\u2019re coming along nicely, growing stronger by the day and quietly preparing for their debut.<\/p>\n

Pitch Repairers<\/strong><\/p>\n

From this Saturday, please collect your complimentary pitch repairer from the Golf Shop. Our new greens are still susceptible to pitch marks and repairing these marks is essential to maintaining smooth surfaces and ensuring consistent ball roll. Our Assistant Course Superintendent, Alex Blakey, has prepared a short video demonstrating the recommended technique for repairing pitch marks. Click here<\/strong><\/a> to see the video on Instagram. Let\u2019s all do our bit to keep our greens smooth, true and looking their best.<\/p>\n

Bunkers<\/strong><\/p>\n

We\u2019re delighted to see bunker improvements now well underway on holes 14, 15 and 16, an exciting sign of what\u2019s to come. On a slightly less positive note, we\u2019ve received consistent complaints about bunkers not being raked by players and rakes being left in the wrong position. A friendly reminder that the correct spot is in the centre of the bunker with the rake in line with play. A quick rake and a moment to place it properly helps ensure fairness for the next player and keeps the course looking as good as it should. And always be aware of your best entry and exit points.<\/p>\n

MiScore 2<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the majority of you that score using the MiScore app you would have noticed the updated version hit your phone recently. While the layout is quite different, the launch has gone smoothly. However, if you are experiencing any issues please see the Golf Shop staff. There are some improved functions on the app that we hope to incorporate into our competition play soon.<\/p>\n

Slow Play<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pleasingly, round times continue to track well, remembering the current setup on the back nine with four par 3s shortens the journey home. A quick note again regarding slow play notifications. These emails are sent in the spirit they\u2019re intended: to promote awareness and help everyone enjoy a better flow around the course. Judging by a few of the replies, that message may not have quite landed as planned, but the goal remains the same. A little mindfulness and cooperation out on the course go a long way to keeping things moving for all. The days are only getting shorter.<\/p>\n

Upcoming and Ongoing Events<\/strong><\/p>\n

Men<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Tennyson Cup<\/strong> is in full swing with Quarter Finals scheduled for 2 May. Good luck to those playing. Mocatta 1st round matches should have been completed by now. A reminder that the 2nd round must be completed by 31 May. No exceptions. Remember that we have Club Championships Scheduled for 23 and 30 of May plus an EGM shotgun on the 9th of May so get organising!<\/p>\n

Our Men\u2019s Midweek Senior Challenge Team <\/strong>began the defence of their 2025 title with an away win against Redland Bay and a home win against Carbrook. Good luck to the team for the remainder of the competition. Go \u201cThe Blueys\u201d (ex Pinkies).<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, the Claiming Cup <\/strong>against Indooroopilly Golf Club is set for Wednesday, 20 May. Brisbane will be heading across the river this year to defend the trophy, and there\u2019d be no better way to do it than with a win on their home turf. It\u2019s always a fantastic day\u2026competitive, social, and a great opportunity to meet fellow golfers from one of our peer clubs. With Indooroopilly celebrating their centenary year, it promises to be an especially memorable occasion. The timesheet for this event will open 8 days prior at 6pm. Glory awaits.<\/p>\n

Women<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Kerry Cup<\/strong> is officially underway. Best of luck to all our qualifiers in A, B and C Grades as you battle it out, with finals set for Thursday, 30 April.<\/p>\n

What a fantastic start to our Pennant season<\/strong>, with a hard-fought win from our Sunday Gold team at home against Wynnum, a great result to kick things off. The momentum continues this week with Friday Gold heading to Wantima to play Nudgee, our Friday Silver team playing at home against Wynnum and Sunday Gold taking on Keperra at Keperra. After some outstanding seasons, our teams are well and truly the ones to watch. Let\u2019s keep the wins coming and bring home the pennants. Good luck to all.<\/p>\n

And there\u2019s plenty more fun on the horizon. On Tuesday 12 May is Grandmothers Day<\/strong>, combined with our much-loved FOB Cup,\u00a0<\/strong>Veterans vs The Rest (or Oldies vs Youngies!). With the best 12 Stableford scores from each side deciding the winner, it\u2019s always a great mix of friendly rivalry and good fun. The only question is\u2026 where will the age cut off land this year?<\/p>\n

Shootout<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Shootout continues. Remember it\u2019s not too late to enter. You only need to have played 4 rounds on the designated days to qualify. A reminder that they are Monthly Medals on Saturdays, Navy Blue tee Days on Wednesdays and Monthly Medals on Tuesdays. If you can play at least 4 of these up to and including October you can make the November Final! Enter at the Golf Shop.<\/p>\n
