Note from the President – COVID-19 Update

As you would be aware the Queensland Government announced that from 5am on Friday, 17 December 2021, there will be restrictions placed on people who are not fully vaccinated.

The actual details are outlined in a public health direction released on Tuesday, 7 December 2021. A public health direction is made under the Public Health Act 2005 and therefore is made in accordance with a law of Queensland and must be followed by the Club.

While we understand the following restrictions will be an inconvenience to unvaccinated members, we request your cooperation with the Club’s implementation.

The information below has been prepared to advise Members how this public health direction will take effect at The Brisbane Golf Club.

Golf

Golf is defined as community sport in the public health direction. Access to golf including practice facilities will continue to be available to all Members regardless of their vaccination status.

Golf Shop

Access to the Golf Shop will continue to be available to all Members regardless of their vaccination status.

Hospitality

Unvaccinated Members will not be permitted to attend hospitality venues including The Brisbane Golf Club. They will not be permitted to purchase food and beverage or sit in the Garden Room, Member’s Lounge or in our outdoor areas. They will also not be permitted to purchase drinks from the Drink’s Cart.

Unvaccinated Members can purchase drinks from the Golf Shop. Limited food offerings including sandwiches and snacks will also be available from the Golf Shop.

Events

Unvaccinated Members will not be permitted to attend hospitality events that have more than 20 people in attendance.

Staff

All the Club’s staff will be vaccinated from 5am on Friday, 17 December 2021.

 Linking Vaccination Status

Members, 16 years and over, will need to carry printed or electronic proof of their vaccination status and be prepared to show this upon request.

Medical Exemptions

If you can’t get any of the approved COVID-19 vaccines for medical reasons, this will be recorded by your doctor on your immunisation history statement and on your COVID-19 digital certificate. This is called a medical contraindication. Your statement or certificate can be used as proof of your vaccination status. You can also add your certificate to your Check In Qld app.

Enforcement

The Club expects all Members to comply with these legal requirements and any Member not following these rules will be asked to leave the Club grounds. Failure to comply with the health directive places the Club at risk, such repeated action will be viewed as a breach of the Rules of The Brisbane Golf Club.
