Note from the President – COVID-19 Update

As most of you are aware, the COVID-19 virus and especially the Omicron variant is transmitting at an increasing rate in our community. The health effects of this variant would appear to be less severe than previous variants, however I am sure many of you have already had friends or family members who have contracted the virus. The government regulations for COVID positive individuals and close contacts mean that unfortunately many of our staff and Members will be spending time in quarantine over the coming days and weeks.

Therefore, I would like to remind Members about some key points in the weeks ahead.

  • Please ensure that you maintain all previous health hygiene measures associated with COVID (Social distancing, hand hygiene, mask wearing, etc).
  • The mask mandate for inside venues is current at the Club.
  • If you have had a positive COVID test or are a close contact as defined by government rules, then please home quarantine for at least 7 days and abide by government regulations.
  • Obviously, any Member who is unwell should remain at home and get a COVID test if possible.
  • Please inform your playing partners if you have contracted COVID or have been a close contact.
  • I encourage all Members to update their COVID vaccinations and receive their booster dose when it becomes due.

To reduce the spread of COVID the Club asks that Members only enter the Golf Shop for essential reasons. It is also recommended that Members use the MiScore app instead of a traditional scorecard. At this stage bunker rakes and flags will remain in play.

I would ask all Members to be aware that our hospitality areas and golf shop will experience staff shortage issues over the coming days or weeks. As a result, effective immediately, the Member’s Lounge will be closed, and all hospitality services will be delivered via the Garden Room.

The Club’s office staff will work from home in the short term. If you need to make an office enquiry please contact Kara Harris via 0415 731 959 or kara@brisbanegolfclub.com.au.

The Club will maintain vigilance on these matters and maintain careful observance of changes in government regulations. We will update Members of any further changes as they occur.

Finally, I would like to wish all Members a happy and healthy New Year in 2022. I am confident that we will have a successful golfing calendar year full of new stories and community spirit. Please take care and all the best to you and your family and friends.

Mark Deuble, President
