Garry Calder Announcement

Late last week we received advice from Garry Calder that he would be leaving The Brisbane Golf Club after almost seven years with us.

Gaz, put simply, has been wonderful and we will certainly miss him. While we are sad to see him leave, we totally understand and support his decision and wish him the very best for his future. We feel so lucky to have had Garry at BGC for so long.

He has asked us to share the note below from him with all Members.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Geoff and the administration team, to Joe and the pro shop gang and to Lee my co-conspirator on the coaching tee for a wonderful, almost, 7 years – (Yes time, like my wedge shot, does fly).

The spirit or atmosphere of any club is down to its’ members, and I extend to everyone my heartfelt thanks for making me feel welcome from day one, and for your day-to-day good humour and generous support – you are a terrific bunch, and you are appreciated.

It seems to me that when people leave an organization they feel the need to give advice, so not to disappoint, keep the thoughts non-technical and simple when playing, enjoy every shot irrespective of the outcome and remember it remains a game!

Thanks so much

Gaz

Garry’s last day will be on Friday, 16 June and as a thank you to Members for their support during his time, he and Lee will be running a ‘Fun and Free Short Game Exhibition Clinic on Thursday, 8 June from 3pm to 4pm on the West Putting Green. Members will get to ask the questions and choose the shots – chipping, pitching or bunker. Members can book by clicking here. Unfortunately, only 50 spaces are available.

There is no doubt that Garry will be virtually impossible to replace. Joe Janison and I will meet in the coming weeks to discuss the future make up of our teaching professionals which will continue in the interim with Lee, Asha and Richard.
