Brisbane GC Seniors News August/September – Preview October/November

Hello all … sorry for the delays … but a little bit of a hiatus in the schedules gives me a bit of time to rest and then catch up.

So, I hear you ask . what’s been happening the last two months on the seniors circuit? .. Well, heaps!

We’ve had a few winners too …. Let’s start nationally.

AUSOOM – Royal Adelaide

This is the only one round tournament on the AUSOOM calendar. Won by David Alexander of Royal Perth with a very good score of 70 (-2).

AUSOOM – Kooyonga/Grange

We are going to count this one as a win! .. The Ox tied with the declared winner – Andrew Brown of Royal Perth – but declined a playoff due to having a flight to catch. Great play Ox, especially at Kooyonga, and while Ox declared himself the winner in our battle, two rounds to one, it’s quite obvious we finished one tournament a piece.

The SA and Vic Senior Amateurs have also been played but went without BGC representation.

COMING UP – AUSTRALIAN SENIOR AMATEUR at Lake Karrinyup WA. Stephen Deane competing – good luck Steve. The ACT Senior is on in November – entries on a first come basis.

Ok … lets head to state level where a new year has commenced for the QSOOM.

QSOOM – Nudgee Masters

A great start to the new season for Ian Burgess in a quality field. Extra points are awarded for this event, being a two-dayer.

QSOOM – Oxley

Geoff Holding performs well in his first QSOOM event! Well done mate.

QSOOM – Gailes

Geoff Holding again leads the BGC boys home with a good result.

QSOOM – Beerwah

Small field events are always good to pick up some easy points …. Ian Burgess shows the way for BGC.

QSOOM – Sanctuary Cove Palms

The Ox picks up his first points for this year with a good T4 on a tough track.

QSOOM Scratch Table

So far, Ian Burgess leads the BGC player, with Geoff Holding giving a very good account of himself.

The nett table looks like this … Some great efforts in here, with Martin Riley (T2 at Oxley), Vincent Fong (2nd at Beerwah) and two T6’s for Chris Everett.

It would be remiss of me not to mention Angela Fong having a win in the Ladies Division at Beerwah. It was both her and Vincent’s first round there … looks like they found it to their liking.

SO … OCTOBER/NOVEMBER.

LATE NOTICE – Entries for Toowoomba City closes at 6pm tonight.

Get in and get keen.
