Brisbane Seniors Report – February

First of all … Vale Greg Adam. A club stalwart and thorough gentleman, will be sorely missed. A service is being held on the 8th of March. Information through the club.

Upcoming

Entries for Redcliffe close this afternoon (the 29th) at 6pm. We already have a good roll up entered at 14 players … nice!

Also coming up in QSOOM March …

Southport – 11 March.

Laidley – 16/17 March.

In AUSOOM this coming month – we have the NSW Senior being played at Tamworth and Longyard golf clubs. Stephen Deane and myself attending – kicking off on the 4th with the NSW Senior Foresomes, then the 54 hole championship from the 5-7th.

Also on in the AUSOOM is the WA Senior – 25-27 March at Rockingham GC. I don’t believe we have anyone headed there, but let me know if you are.

In April, the AUSOOM tournaments at The National and Cobram Barooga are filling fast. If anyone else is looking at Cobram, there is a teams event available (Teams of 3). Please let me know.

Results.

BRISBANE QSOOM – 12 Players from BGC.

Scratch – Our very own QSOOM event, won by ex-pro John Rixon from Lismore. Our scores below. Nice round from Michael Batiste.

Nett – RING THE BELL! …Well done to Michael Batiste in taking out the nett for the day! Good work too from Vincent Fong and Craig James for top 10’s.

HOPE ISLAND – 15 BGC players.

Scratch – a large field assembled on a tough day – slow greens and not much run around …

Nett – a T6 was the best we could offer with 36 points.

Order of Merit – Scratch – Coming to the middle of the season with a few more competitors having now posted 8 rounds. Geoff Holding leads the way for BGC.

Nett – Myself with a slight edge over Geoff Holding, both within range of the top 2.

Super Seniors.

Special mentions.

Angela Fong currently lies in 3rd spot in the QSOOM Ladies nett and well within striking distance of the top 2.

Stephen Deane recently tried his luck at the NZ Senior Amateur, running 17th in a quality field of over 50’s at Hastings Golf Club.

Well done to all! Nice to see more people trying out these events.
