Volunteer Update – Monday, 27 April 2026
On a wet Monday April 2026 at 7am the BGC volunteers fired up for the 2026 season after a long break because of the green/bunker/tee overhaul taking priority for Marcus Hartup and staff.
The rain cleared just after 7am enabling our team to venture across to the back of the 11th green and beyond to clear much overgrown vegetation and low hanging trees. If you are unfortunately playing from this area you will notice it is much easier to find and extricate your ball back into play. The rough mowers will also now have clearer access to this area. Six or seven very large trailer loads of tree branches were tractored away.
Thanks to the volunteers being John Puttick, Mal Cramb, Rob Keers, Al Haydock and Phil Jefferson well supported by Super Marcus and staff Mark and Matt. The coffee, courtesy of Pete Collins, and Gillian’s hot muffins went down a treat straight afterwards in the Members Bar.
A reminder to all BGC members, new and old, we welcome any volunteers who can spare an hour or two once a month to assist in this rewarding and worthwhile activity, keenly supported by the club. Simply send me or the Office/Proshop an email, requesting to be on the volunteer mailing list and we look forward to more regulars.
Cheers and Thanks
